Protest in Mangaluru Demands Restoration of Women’s Reservation

A protest was staged in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha, opposite the Town Hall in Mangaluru, under the banner of Nari Hakku Horata Samiti, expressing strong support for the Nari Shakti Women’s Reservation Bill and demanding the restoration of reservation for women.

The protesters alleged that the Congress government had failed to implement the Women’s Reservation Bill and urged authorities to ensure equal opportunities for women in the political sphere. They emphasized the need for immediate reimplementation of reservation to strengthen women’s representation in governance.

Sahana Kundar addressed the gathering as the chief speaker, highlighting the importance of empowering women through political inclusion. Rekha Sudesh and Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya also shared their views, stressing the necessity of safeguarding women’s rights.

Bharati Prabhu delivered the introductory address, while Sindhu compered the program. A large number of women and members of the public participated in the protest, raising slogans in support of women’s rights and equality. Youth leader Nandan Mallya and student leader Muliya Sathwik were also present on the occasion.
