Siddaramaiah Quits Chief Minister Post, Congress Begins Transition Talks

In a major political development in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reportedly decided to resign from his post following discussions with the Congress high command. Sources said Siddaramaiah informed his Cabinet colleagues about his decision during a breakfast meeting held at his residence on Thursday morning.
The resignation comes amid long-standing speculation over a leadership change in the Congress-led Karnataka government. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is being seen as the frontrunner to take over as the next Chief Minister, though the party leadership is yet to make an official announcement.
According to reports, Siddaramaiah has sought an appointment with Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to formally submit his resignation. Several senior Congress leaders are also expected to hold meetings in Bengaluru and Delhi regarding the transition of leadership and formation of a new Cabinet.
Siddaramaiah’s tenure is considered significant in Karnataka politics, as he became one of the longest-serving Chief Ministers from the backward classes in the state. Meanwhile, political reactions have intensified across Karnataka with both Congress and BJP leaders closely watching the developments.
