Internship Scam Exposed in Mangaluru: Student Unions Warn of Massive Fraud Network

Mangaluru: In what is being described as a shocking case of organized exploitation of students, serious allegations have emerged against Maharashtra-based networking firms operating under the names Vexon and BMP in the Alake area of Kudroli, near Shreya Sweets. The firms are accused of running a large-scale “internship scam,” collecting lakhs of rupees from unsuspecting students under false promises of employment.

Addressing a fiery press meet at the Mangaluru Press Club, Muliya Sathwik, President of the Swastika National Business School Student Union and President of the ABVP-supported All College Students Union, strongly condemned the alleged racket. He stated that the companies targeted degree students and unemployed graduates by advertising an attractive monthly salary of ₹30,000. However, once students approached them, they were allegedly pressured to pay ₹51,000 each as a so-called “internship fee.”

Student leaders alleged that this was nothing but a “chain-link business trap” designed to exploit the aspirations of youth. “This is not an internship program; this is a well-planned financial network preying on innocent students,” Sathwik asserted.

According to reports, when the internal functioning of the company was questioned, the alleged fraudulent structure began to unravel. At least five students reportedly escaped after realizing the nature of the operation. Victims, including Srinivas Yenepoya, have openly claimed they were cheated.

The student unions warned that hundreds of students may have already been affected and demanded immediate intervention from the district administration and police authorities. They questioned how such out-of-state firms were allowed to operate freely and allegedly mislead students in a reputed educational hub like Mangaluru.

A formal complaint has been filed at Kadri Police Station, seeking strict legal action against those responsible. The unions made it clear that they will intensify protests if swift action is not taken.

NSUI leader Christon Menezes also condemned the incident and extended support for the affected students. Pritesh, Sinchana, and Sindhu were present during the press conference.
